Nursing Intervention Nursing Care Plan for Self-Care Deficit Bathing / Hygiene
- Encourage individuals to use lenses or corrective aids prescribed
- Keep warm temperature bath; confirm the preferred water temperature of individual
- Provide privacy during bathing routine
- Give all toiletries within easy reach
- Give security in the bathroom (eg, the floor is not slippery, handle bars, bel)
- If the individual is physically able, encourage use a bath or shower, depending on hospital facilities in preparation to go home.
- Provide adaptive equipment if needed
- Make sure that the bathing facilities at home are available and help in determining if there are different needs for adaptation.
- Refer to occupational therapy or social services to assist in obtaining the necessary equipment.
